I’ve been exploring Microsoft Image Composite Editor recently. It is a very good tool (and free) for creating panoramic views from stitching together multiple photos. Below is one panoramic composite photo I created:

…information does not necessarily spell knowledge, and knowledge does not necessarily spell wisdom, and the incessant demand for unending sensory input from the digital world does not guarantee we make good choices.

Marriage Conference – Five differences between men and women toward understanding intimacy:

Men express fact, women express emotions; men are objective, women are personal; men want basics, women want details; men can detach from their surroundings, but the home is the extension of the wife; men are microwaves, women are crock pots.

Wow, we have had rain, sleet, snow and burst of wind gusts all in the last 24 hours.

Winter in January

On New Year’s Eve, my wife and I attended the Wednesday night Bible study and prayer meeting at Grace Baptist Church. There were very few people there that evening so the handful of youth and adults came together to view a video presentation of Louie Giglio’s How Great is Our God. It was a wonderful and powerful presentation which I highly recommend to everyone. I have ordered two copies: one to keep and one to give away and will very likely order additional copies to share with family and friends.

Your life is a miracle, and the creator of the universe knows you by name.

He’s big enough to breathe out stars, yet intricate enough to fashion together the trillions of cells that make up every facet of who you are. The God who spoke the universe into existence made you, too, and knows everything about you. From the smallest molecule to the situation you find yourself in right now, He’s aware of your circumstances and intimately acquainted with everything you do. And He cares about you and promises to carry you through.

That’s where we find hope in the midst of the darkest places in life. The journey often complicated and painful, filled with confusion and chaos. Yet, the cross of Christ reveals God’s promise to preserve and restore you no matter what the circumstance. He will hold onto you and hold you together, giving strength to those who hope in His unfailing love.

He is the everlasting God!

We must recognize that to allow one’s ideas and values to become controlled by anything or anyone other than the self-revelation of God in Holy Scripture is to adopt an ideology rather than a theology.

Just discovered this wonderful site. It is the result of cooperation between Time-Warner, Inc and Google. Most of these photos have never before been published. It is my understanding the images are free to use for “personal and research purposes” but are digitally watermarked to prevent unauthorized or unlicensed commercial uses. Enjoy!

I read this article today by C. J. Mahaney. I must say it has given me good reason to do some reflection upon my own “busyness.”

Lazy? Not me. I’m busy. Up early, up late. My schedule is filled from beginning to end. I love what I do and I love getting stuff done. I attack a daily to-do list with the same intensity I play basketball. Me lazy? I don’t think so!

Or at least I didn’t think so. That is, until I read about the difference between busyness and fruitfulness, and realized just how often my busyness was an expression of laziness, not diligence.

I forget now who first brought these points to my attention. But the realization that I could be simultaneously busy and lazy, that I could be a hectic sluggard, that my busyness was no immunity from laziness, became a life-altering and work-altering insight. What I learned is that:

* Busyness does not mean I am diligent
* Busyness does not mean I am faithful
* Busyness does not mean I am fruitful

Recognizing the sin of procrastination, and broadening the definition to include busyness, has made a significant alteration in my life. The sluggard can be busy–busy neglecting the most important work, and busy knocking out a to-do list filled with tasks of secondary importance.
